I know WHAT I can do unlike the rest of you fools, which is a shame because no matter what you do, it’s your blood that’s the glue sticking you to stereotypes of the few that are stop-checked and pooled, rounded up and carted off to concentration camps with “HMP” stamped on the roof… To be battered and bruised, subliminal slaves on the news, new to the news that you can be better than being just “youths”.

So.. you see me? I’m happy I’m doomed.

I’m glad I don’t know the life that you do.

I’m glad I can leave my blue borough with my head held high and true, melanin fuelled, safe in the knowledge that in my past there is nothing to make me future statistical news.

So go ahead and point at the fact that I’m doomed

At the fact that I’m black and I’m different from you

At the fact some would say that I’m one in a few but the fact still remains I’m still black like you.

I told my shadow to hold my bag.

He said “no” and we carried on walking.

I told my shadow to hold my bag again,

He said “no” and gave it to my ego.

We walked for a while longer and i asked my shadow again,

“please hold my bag, my ego is burdened”

He replied again, “no”.

I shot my shadow in the fucking face.

But in doing so i severed my soul.

So now i am shadow free.

Still in darkness though.

That is what happens when you step on eggshells.
